Midlands Manufacturing Commission – A progress report 3 months after launch
This opening session the Summit provides a progress report on the work of the new Midlands Manufacturing Commission following its launch in December 2020. Led by M2R Chair and MTC CEO Dr. Clive Hickman, the webinar will provide an update on the work that is underway across the 12 recommendations that aim to support the resilience and growth of Midlands manufacturers.
Dr Clive Hickman
Chief Executive – The MTC
Clive Hickman was born in Coseley, West Midlands, and studied at the University of Wolverhampton, Aston University and Loughborough University, holding a BSc, PhD in mechanical engineering and a MBA.
During his career, he has been Chief Executive of Tata Motors European Technical Centre, Managing Director of Ricardo UK, Engineering Director at MIRA and Executive Engineer with Rover Group.
Clive has been CEO of the MTC since it was founded in 2010. He has recently chaired the Midlands Manufacturing Resilience Commission and won the Institute of Directors Chair’s Award for Excellence and Board Practice for the West Midlands in 2020. On the international stage, Clive now represents the UK Research Technology Organisation community on the Board of the European Association of RTOs.
Sir John Peace
Chair of the Midlands Engine Partnership and Midlands Connect
Sir John Peace is Chairman of the Midlands Engine Partnership and Midlands Connect. Sir John is also the Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire and the Chancellor of Nottingham Trent University.
Sir John has had a long and distinguished business career covering the technology, financial services and retail sectors. He has been Chairman, Chief Executive and Founder of Experian plc, Chief Executive of GUS plc, Chairman of Standard Chartered plc, Chairman of Burberry plc, and is currently Chairman of Octo Telematics.
